So The Denture Really Does What It Promises

by , in
It gives many people more quality of life again, but artificial teeth are not without pitfalls. What you should consider when dentures.

So The Denture Really Does What It Promises

If one's own dentition can no longer be saved, a full denture remains as the only alternative. About every eighth German over 65 needs a complete denture - tendency sinking. Good to know: It may take up to three months for those affected to get used to the device. For this, it is important to wear the teeth regularly. We reveal the best tips for the easier handling of the prosthesis.

Patience with the denture pays off

If you feel that you are producing more saliva, this is normal. Tip: Suck sweets several times a day until you get used to the replacement. In addition, speaking feels different. Practice speaking aloud in front of the mirror or reading from the newspaper - this will make you quicker safer.

In the beginning, it is best to use soft food

You also have to get used to the food with the denture. Eggs, fish, cooked vegetables or oatmeal help to get used to it. Later, you can switch to heavier chewable food. Those who suffer from irritation in the mouth should refrain from spicy foods, so as not to further promote. In addition, chewing tablets (such as high-dose minerals) often stick to the denture. Ask for lozenges.

Coverings should be removed regularly

Oral hygiene is also important in artificial dentition. Without regular care, deposits from food scraps and bacteria can adhere and cause inflammation. Clean the denture twice daily with the toothbrush or denture brush. Take water and liquid soap for it. Cleaning tablets (from the drugstore) remove stubborn deposits such as tea or coffee, but should not be used on a daily basis. Once or twice a week is enough.

Say goodbye to bruises through dentures

Frequently, pressure points are created by the prosthesis at the beginning. Do not panic, these should disappear after a few days. A rinse with warm salt water relieves the pain.

Do not dispense with adhesive cream

Unpleasant slipping can be prevented by adhesive cream. However, if the dentures feel loose or the pressure points do not improve after a short time, go to the doctor.

This subsidy is paid by your health insurance

The cost of a prosthesis can amount to several hundred dollars. The health insurance company covers about half of the total costs for the standard care.

What your doctor can do for you

Do not be afraid to go to the doctor if you initially have problems with the denture: This has the duty to repair free of charge. The warranty is valid for two years from the date of insertion.

How to Prevent Colon Cancer | Nuts are Really that Healthy

by , in
How to Prevent Colon Cancer

It is well known that nuts are powerhouses because they contain important nutrients - but German researchers have now discovered that they can protect against colon cancer. How is that possible?

Mmh, such a handful of nuts is pretty yummy - and so healthy! These nuts are not only good for the cardiovascular system, they are also meant to lower the risk of diabetes. Nutritionists at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena also prove that nuts can reduce the spread of colon cancer cells.

What Nuts do in our Gut

Previous studies had suggested that nuts have a protective effect against colon cancer, but the latest research has shown where this effect comes from. Five different types of nuts were tested: macadamia, hazelnuts, and walnuts as well as almonds and pistachios. These varieties were then subjected to a chemical digestion process in the laboratory, which took place in the test tube alone - so the researchers were able to find out how the nuts normally arrive in our intestines.

Nuts are Really that Healthy to prevent colon cancer

Subsequently, it was investigated how the resulting digestive products affect various colon cancer cells. The scientists came to the conclusion that they stimulate the body's defense, as they promote the natural detoxification in body cells. In addition, they initiate the so-called programmed cell death in cancer cells. This means that the cells virtually commit suicide and die so that other, healthy cells can live.

These questions are still unanswered

"We were able to demonstrate this effect in all nut varieties examined," explains study leader Prof. Dr. med. Michael Glei. Whether you prefer almonds or walnuts is up to you - but a big question remains: the researchers have not yet been able to find out whether roasted nuts can also protect against colon cancer. This will only be checked in a next examination step, which should also clarify which amount of nutritious intake would be recommended.

What is Acute Leukemia?

by , in
Acute leukemia is treacherous because the symptoms are nonspecific and the disease progresses rapidly. What you should know.

What is Acute Leukemia?

What is called Acute Leukemia?

There are different types of blood cells in the blood. Among them, among others, the red blood cells (erythrocytes), the white blood cells (leukocytes) and the platelets (thrombocytes). In leukemia, the blood cells or their development are disturbed, one speaks of blood cancer. A distinction is made between acute and chronic leukemia. Acute leukemia is progressing very fast and needs immediate attention.

For blood cells, there are two different lines: the myeloid cells and the lymphatic cells. Therefore, two different types of acute leukemia are distinguished: acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The former is more common in children and young adults. Acute myeloid leukemia, on the other hand, is the most common form of adult acute leukemia.

Possible Symptoms of Acute Leukemia

  • ·         Paleness and shortness of breath due to anemia
  • ·         fever
  • ·         fatigue
  • ·         fatigue
  • ·         A "sickness feeling"
  • ·         High susceptibility to infections
  • ·         Small bleeding on skin and mucous membranes, as well as nose and gum, bleeding
  • ·         dizziness
  • ·         night sweats
Important: These symptoms are nonspecific. That is, they are not only due to acute leukemia but may also point to other diseases. In addition, symptoms may be different for each patient. Some symptoms may not occur at all. This makes the early detection of acute leukemia particularly difficult. People who suffer from acute leukemia experience the result only after certain tests. These include, for example, hematopoietic examinations or a bone marrow examination.

What Treatments are Available for Acute Leukemia?

In any case, you should be in the treatment of specialists in acute leukemia. There are some hospitals that employ special specialists in the field of leukemia. Find out about possible treatment locations.

In acute leukemia, a rapid onset of treatment is necessary to successfully treat the disease at all. If no therapy, the disease leads to death. It is usually started immediately with chemotherapy. It may also be necessary to have a stem cell transplant. The ALL also carries out radiotherapy.

In the USA, gene therapy has been approved in 2017, which gives new hope in acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Tests had shown that in 52 of the 63 test patients, the cancer cells in the blood disappeared.

With the Right Breathing How to Improve Your Running

by , in
Your lungs feel heavy like lead? Are you tired of the unpleasant stinging while running? Here's how proper right breathing improves your running training and how you use it.

With the Right Breathing How to Improve Your Running

For running training, we should build muscle - this is important not only for our legs, ankles, and mid-body but also for our breathing (yes, we can also train our muscles for this area). But what does "breathing properly" mean? Through the nose or the mouth? Abdominal or chest breathing? There is a lot of information on the internet about how to optimize your running style. It's not just diaphragmatic breathing - when you're running, there are many more muscles involved than you think.

Muscles need oxygen during running, which is essential. There are many different breathing techniques that you can use for a longer, more intense run. For perfect running results, you first have to understand what happens in the body - that's why we've put together a few techniques that you should try next time when tying your running shoes and getting ready for a stamina workout.

Before the Run

Think of Pavarotti's classic operatic pose! This is how to achieve the perfect posture to lift the rib cage, which is ideal for a good running style. Stand upright, with your feet together, activate your buttock muscles. Inhale and raise your arms until they are parallel to the floor (hands at shoulder level).

Right Breathing - Before the Run

Your breath should be slow and in a regular rhythm, just move your arms while exhaling and keep the body steady. Inhale and exhale ten times. Then bring your arms upside down and your palms together.

During the Running Workout

The most common form of breathing while running is chest breathing - unfortunately, this breathing technique is also the weakest. The oxygen uptake is minimal and you cannot fully expand your lungs to expel carbon dioxide.

Right Breathing - During the Running Workout

Have you ever felt an unpleasant sting while running? The reason could be chest breathing. At the next endurance workout, you should use diaphragmatic breathing. This will allow your stomach to expand and contract, and air will come in and out through your lungs. Avoid superficial breathing techniques and try the following breathing rhythms for deep breathing on your next run:

Right Breathing Technique for Running Training

Your breathing depends on the intensity of the run. If you're jogging more slowly, inhale for three paces, then pause for the next three paces. If you increase the speed, you do the same with just two steps. If you want to sprint and run at maximum speed, then the breathing rhythm is 1: 1 most effective.

Right Breathing Technique for Running Training

In general, you should breathe longer if you hit your feet on the floor, as your diaphragm and other muscles contract to stabilize your body. So you can injure yourself less easily when rolling with the foot.

You can easily train this breathing technique by doing the following exercise - lying on your back:
  • Lie on your back, knees hip-width, feet flat on the floor.
  • Hands are resting on the stomach, breathing in and out through the abdomen.
  • Inhale through the nose and through the mouth, counting to 3. Then exhale again - also count to three.
  • Concentrate on the rhythm of your breathing and make sure it is even.
  • Once you get used to this 3: 3 breathing technique, you can use your feet to alternately touch the ground and mimic walking steps.

The 3 Biggest Women Health Issues Facing Today

by , in
At a certain age, women should be careful to live as consciously as possible. Health problems can be avoided in this way and the quality of life is maintained until old age.

The 3 Biggest Women Health Issues Facing Today

Various factors come together to live healthily, including balanced nutrition, regular exercise, and mental fitness. This is not about huge efforts and a total change of the rhythm of life. Being attuned to one's own body and adapting to a more mature life can lead one to live a happy and loving life for a long time.

The 3 most common women health issues can be avoided with the appropriate lifestyle!

Osteoporosis

Women Health Issues - Osteoporosis

This disease is about bone density, which decreases with increasing age. This is due to the hormonal change after menopause. Bone fractures can be rapid in advanced osteoporosis. To counter this, optimal fitness can help. It is enough to do moderate walks every day or to practice cycling, swimming and whatever else is fun.

Circulatory Disorders

Women Health Issues - Circulatory Disorders

The cardiovascular system is unnecessarily burdened by neglecting exercise and increasing weight. It can both dizziness, as well as an increased blood pressure, which can lead to a heart attack. In addition, poor blood flow to the vessels can result in strokes, which can eventually cause permanent damage. Again, the not too strenuous but regular movement is very important again. In addition, should be paid to a varied food with lots of fruit and vegetables.

Memory Problems

Women Health Issues - Memory Problems

If the gray cells are not constantly required, memory problems can occur. The memory decreases and names and other memories disappear. Short-term memory also suffers when the brain is not constantly challenged. The memory can also be trained with movement and exercises such as solving puzzles, combing with the other hand, go backward and more often stand on only one leg. The latter also leads to a better sense of balance.

Not always can diseases be avoided in old age; however, much can be done to postpone frailty as long as possible. What do you think about it and what do you do for your health? Write us in the comments.

8 Healthy Tips of the Day for a Healthy Digestion

by , in
Which foods are tolerated and which are not, is individually different. These tips, however, form a good basis for a healthy digestion and a vital intestine.

Healthy Tips of the Day for a Healthy Digestion

Many people find it inappropriate to talk about digestion and the gastrointestinal tract. I hold it and say quite frankly: these topics must not be kept secret. Because the digestive tract is extremely important for our health. It filters nutrients, regulates our water balance, produces important hormones and provides protection against numerous pathogens. Reason enough to give you some tips for a healthy digestion, with the help of which you can support your organism.

Here are the eight healthy tips of the day for a healthy digestion

Abdominal Massage

Abdominal Massage

You want to activate your digestive system? Then try it with a stomach massage. Simply place your hands on your stomach and gently push for a few minutes in a clockwise direction.

High Fiber Diet

High Fiber Diet

Fiber saturates long-lasting and brings healthy digestion on the go. Your diet should, therefore, include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables (especially legumes such as peas, beans or lentils), whole grains and cereals.

Regular Exercise

Regular Exercise

Investigations have shown that those who exercise sufficiently and do sports ensure that the activity of the gastrointestinal tract is promoted and thus contributes to a healthy digestion. It is perhaps the easiest way to get the digestive system going again. Even small proportions of the movement have a great effect: For example, after the lunch break, go for a quiet round around the block, and lunch is no longer so difficult in the stomach.

How Many Minutes Walking a Weight Loss Needed?

Drinking Water

Drinking Water

Water carries many substances in our body and is involved in numerous processes in the body. Drinking too little can cause digestive problems. Therefore, you should take about 1.5 to 2 liters of liquid daily. This can be water as well as unsweetened herbal and fruit teas.

Chew Slowly and Carefully

Chew Slowly and Carefully

Bringing down the food hectically is not a good idea and does not promote healthy digestion. Those who chew too little make it extremely difficult for the stomach and intestines to filter nutrients and to sort out pollutants. That's why you should take time to eat. So you are also rather full.

Drink a Little Alcohol

Drink a Little Alcohol

Alcohol and its degradation products attack the intestinal wall and damage the cells. Consumption slows digestion and increases the risk of cancer. Not least because of this, one should rarely drink alcohol.

Enjoy Natural Yogurt

Enjoy Natural Yogurt

Lactic acid bacteria in natural yogurt have a probiotic effect and can positively affect the intestinal flora and thus contribute to healthy digestion. However, it is crucial that you eat the yogurt regularly (preferably daily). Otherwise, the bacteria can not settle in the intestine.

Rarely Enjoy Red Meat

Rarely Enjoy Red Meat

If you eat beef, pork, lamb, goat, sausage or ham every day, you increase your risk of developing cancer, heart attacks, and strokes. You should not eat more than 300 to 600 grams of meat and sausages per week.
